Do you cut a slit in the siding and slide the kickout behind the bottom piece of step flashing and under the shingle.
This flashing is typically field fabricated from a sheet of 26 ga.
Bent into an l shape.
Specifically where a gutter butts into a side wall.
Also works with all types of siding vinyl fiber cement cedar etc.
Vinyl siding is a good choice because it breathes and when water does enter into the system it can dry out again in our low humidity air.
It can be a pain to side around it but you will fail your inspection if the inspector doesn t see it on your job.
Leave the kick out flashing loose and slide the first panel behind the flashing.
If the kick out and step flashing can t tuck behind the siding screw on cap flashing to cover it then caulk along the top.
J d out kick out takes away the guess work.
Kick out flashing prevents water from running down a roof and ending up behind the siding on an adjacent wall.
